Attention Water Customers:  By now you have noticed a new fixed fee of $2.50 per month on your water billing starting with the July water use.  This figure is based on how the Township is similarly billed by the City of Detroit, Water & Sewerage Department with a new fixed amount before usage.  Please note that the actual water rate has stayed the same at $1.91 per unit.  Also, with sewer use starting in September, there will be a new fixed fee of $2.49 per month based on the Township's portion of bond debt and a $0.16 per unit charge for maintenance and operational costs; based on Oakland and Macomb Counties taking ownership of the Detroit Water & Sewerage Department's interceptors.  This fee has been referenced in multiple county hearings, meetings, newspaper articles and internet sites.  With that said, the township's sanitary sewer rate will also increase $0.18 per unit from $3.29 to $3.47 per unit.  Overall, the Township's water and sewer rates remain very comparable and even lower than 10 out of 15 local communities on the water side within a five mile radius of the township.  Thank you.
