FAQs
EditWhere do I report a traffic problem?
When there is a traffic problem or concern, contact the Operations Division at 586-493-7800. The request will be included in the directed traffic assignments of the traffic officers. The officers will monitor and enforce in these directed traffic areas with the results being input in the computer system for later requests for these results.
EditHow do I report a traffic crash (accident)?
When a traffic crash occurs, call the Police Dispatch Center at 586-493-7800 or 911 on a pay phone. REMEMBER: calling 911 on a cellular phone connects you to the Michigan State Police Northville Post. You must then ask them to connect you to the area Police Department where you are calling from. The Police Dispatcher will want to know if anyone is hurt and if the cars are blocking the roadway. If the cars are drivable, we recommend they be removed from the road to the nearest "safe area". A Police Officer will then be sent to complete a traffic crash report OR all involved persons will be asked to come to the Police Department to complete a traffic crash report. Private property accident reports, such as those occurring in a parking lot, are normally handled at the Police Department.
