If you are considering having work done on your home, there are some things you should know before hiring a contractor. First, ask to see his or her contractors license. It should state the type of license (Building, Electrical, Plumbing or Mechanical Contractor), and the company name and address. The expiration date should be valid through the year, and include their permanent ID number.
The Bureau of Construction Codes in Lansing Michigan can verify the validity of the Contractors License. The following is a list of phone numbers at the Bureau in Lansing for inquiries regarding contractors.
