St. Clair and Macomb County agencies and municipalities have been working together on the Anchor Bay Watershed Project for approximately a year. The purpose of this project is to create a watershed plan for Anchor Bay Watershed communities: China Township, Casco Township, Cottreville Township, Marine City, Clay Township, City of Algonac, Ira Township, City of Richmond, Richmond Township, Lenox Township, Village of New Haven, Chesterfield Township, New Baltimore, Harrison Township, Macomb Township and Clinton Township.

The Anchor Bay Watershed Plan brings together data about the current state of Anchor Bay and the actions that municipalities and County agencies are currently taking for water quality improvements. The plan then makes recommendations about improvements and actions needed to improve Anchor Bay water quality. New EPA Storm Water Regulations that will take effect in March of 2003 will help turn these recommendations into action.

The purpose of the public meeting is to receive feedback from the public. We want this plan to reflect the water quality improvements the public would like to see. There will be presentations to explain the Anchor Bay Watershed Plan and water quality initiatives that are already happening in Anchor Bay Communities. There will be opportunities for the public to comment on the plan and ask municipal and County agencies questions about their water quality initiatives. This is the public’s opportunity to express what they feel needs to be done.
